Pumpkin Patch 101

Fall has arrived and with it comes lots of new opportunities to show your mad super dad skillz. Pumpkin Patchin' is a must do activity and can be fun for the whole family. But fail to plan and you will end up with pumpkin on yo face. Here's the Stunt 101 on Pimpin Pumpkin Patch.

The Early Bird Gets the Parking Spot
While the other birds break their strollers pushing their kids over an old corn field for a quarter mile. To avoid hearing your kid tell you that your driving sucks and request that mom take over the stroller duties, set the alarm clock, pack the car the night before with extra clothes, diaper bags, and strollers.

Make a Candy Contract Before Departure

Make an agreement with your little pumpkins before you set out. Let them know that if they are good they can 1 piece of sweet sugar goodness at the Pumpkin Patch, but that's it. Shake hands and seal the contract with a high five or bear hug.

There is a lot of temptation at the good ole' Pumpkin Patch including donuts, pie, pretzels, candy, candy corn, suckers, gummy bears and even funnel cakes. By setting up expectations in advance you may be able to reduce having to say "no" from 1,000 times to like 400 times. That is a 60% reduction in annoying and makes good business sense.

Be Prepared to Create Memories
Make sure your camera is loaded, charged, the SD cards are emptied and whatever else needs to be done to make sure you are ready to capture all the cute that is about to happen. The last thing you want is for the only picture of this year's fall trip to the Pumpkin Patch be that of your wife glaring at you with those "I married stupid" eyes. Ya, you know what I'm talking about.

Now go and plan some pickin and the pumpkin patch.

Other Pumpkin Patch suggestions are welcome. Please include them in the comments.
