DadVersions: Because You Deserve 15 Minutes To Yourself

http://theoatmeal.com/comics/zombie_howWe have now reached a point where there is so much media content available online that we can start making new media simply by editing existing media. Don't know what I mean? Check out the crafty Kutiman and his YouTube mashups.http://thru-you.com/#/videos/1/
The Lie Trailer 2011A musician is forced to give up his dreams in order to support his family. Lonnie and Clover were once young idealists -- destined to change the world, until an unanticipated pregnancy derailed their plans. Instead of making their mark, the pair finds themselves trapped in a bourgeois nightmare, hosting BBQs and arguing about organic diapers. Clover is in her final year of law school, while Lonnie, stuck in a nine-to-five routine, remains in a daze about the artistic lifestyle they were forced to abandon. Deciding he needs some time away from his soul-sucking job to renew his stalled aspirations, Lonnie calls in sick and creates a shocking lie to justify his absence. Swept away in a series of misadventures beyond his control, he attempts to close the Pandora's box, but finds that it is too late.

Dadversions: Because You Deserve 15 Minutes to Yourself

ALRIGHT!! Here we go! Are you ready for some football?! Super Bowl Sunday! How pumped are you? The anticipation of the game, the humor of the tv commercials, the excitement of Madonna's halftime show. Wait, Madonna at halftime? Really? Sure, she looks great for 53, and all. Sure, she's a legend. But is that the best we could do, fellas? Heck, we may as well flip over and watch Puppy Bowl VIII on Animal Planet. When I think of the halftime of the Super Bowl, I don't think of the Queen of Pop and Club music. Come on, NBC—where's the testosterone? Where's the power chords? What we need is some good hard ROCK-N-ROLL!!

While ABC may have failed you, we have not. If you need to get your fix of high-energy, high-octane, high-flyin', stylin', and profilin' rock drummin', then watch the link below:

ZZ Top – Sharp Dressed Man (Crazy Drummer)

Now this isn't the original. Oh no. It's a cover. A cover like no other. The Band from Virginia, Rick K & the Allnighters featuring Steve Moore on drums. And "more" is what he brings. Now don't let the 40 second intro scare you away—in fact, the intro helps set the tone. Are these guys playing in a church? Anyway, just watch the drummer. He must have trademarks on all his moves: the head-wrap-around, the look-out-scout, heck—he even does the Pete Townshend windmill on the freaking drums!! Animal, eat your heart out.

Dadversions: Because You Deserve 15 Minutes to Yourself

Let's be honest, dads—nobody really watches the Pro Bowl. But how are we supposed to get through a Sunday with no entertainment. Fear not—DADversions is back! In this week's installation from Stunt Dad, we feature a group of guys who've answered the age old question: "Who would win in a rap battle, Christopher Columbus or Captain Kirk?" Well wonder no more. You can judge for yourself.

Meet BoomTubers, Epic Lloyd and Nice Peter—a duo researches, writes, and performs "Epic Rap Battles of History." With a catalog of performances growing by the month on YouTube, their painstakingly-produced and well-staged episodes pit various historical figures against one another. Who's the better writer, Dr. Seuss or William Shakespeare? Who's the bigger brainiac, Albert Einstein vs Stephen Hawking? Who's the worst villain, Darth Vader or Adolph Hitler? The decision is up to you.

After meeting at a party in Chicago, this pair plus one other started performing and developing this model in 2010 as an improve game in a rap improve show. Shortly after the production wrapped, they decided to give it new life on YouTube. And working in conjunction with Maker Studio in California, they did just that.

And their hard work really pays off. They use some of the most specific details about their subject's lives to craft witty and what-the-f*ck humor. But enough from us—you be the judge.

While many of the short videos can get pretty graphic, we've suggested a few that are more on the "clean" side. If you like what you see, you can dig into the archives yourself and get to the really good stuff. So check out this short list of Epic Rap Battles of History:

Dr. Seuss vs William Shakespeare

Mr. T vs Mr. Rogers

Albert Einstein vs Stephen Hawking

Napoleon vs Napoleon

Billy Mays vs Ben Franklin

Columbus vs Captain Kirk

Question of the Week: What is the one place you want to visit before you die? (without kids)
Here are ours:
  • Stunt Chad: The St. Regis Bora Bora Resort
This was the resort where they filmed Couples Retreat. While the movie left a lot to be desired, it definitely made me want to stay at the resort.
  • Stunt Ben: Tignes Ski Resort, France
This is supposed to be a great place to snowboard, check out the scenery and have drinks after cutting up some powder. They also provide lots of resources for the kids and have an ice rink for when you need a change of pave and want to fall down inside.
  • Stunt Pete: Maldives
Set off the coast of India, Maldives is an exotic paradise. Bright blue skies, all-year sunshine, white sand beaches, and supreme scuba diving in lagoons the temperature of bath water and the color of a Tiffany box.
